Why should you VOTE NO? 3 good reasons:
⇒ Your taxes will go up!
- Every city in Cobb County has higher taxes than unincorporated Cobb
- The proposed City Charter allows for the city council to raise the millage by 1 mill without voter approval
- Add the 1 Mill to the 2.86 Mills the proponents think they’ll take from the county – it’s still too low compared to other cities (see the chart)

⇒You will get less public safety!
- Fire Department response times will increase
- The cost of fire trucks was excluded in the feasibility study to hide total true costs to operate the fire department
- It will cost much more for police and fire than city proponents claim
- It’s not clear that the county can even find enough personnel or equipment

⇒ You will not get more representation!
- Your representative doesn’t fix problems – they send it to the right department to be fixed. It’s just as easy to do that for 200,000 people as it is for 10,000.
- The size of the departments that problems are referred to IS relevant and those departments will be smaller if we split off from Cobb.
- The Mayor and 3 Council members constitute a quorum. This means 1 council member could propose an action and 2 could vote no. The 3 missing votes are abstentions, which count as yes votes. One council member has decided an issue.
